The Taliban government in Afghanistan said Monday it has 'serious concern' over reports that the United States intends to deport more than 150 Afghan nationals, sending them first to Pakistan before an eventual return to Afghanistan, according to France 24.
Advocacy groups cited in the report warned that forcing these Afghans back could put their safety at risk, pointing to the dangers many fled when they left the country after the Taliban took power.
France 24 reports the plan has not been officially confirmed in full detail by US authorities, but the prospect of a mass removal through a third country has already drawn pushback from both the Taliban and advocates for the migrants.
