OpenAI has unveiled GPT-6 Cyber, an artificial intelligence model designed for security research, which according to BleepingComputer has identified 81 previously unknown high-severity vulnerabilities in the Firefox browser. The model also reportedly developed functioning exploit code for 948 distinct flaws in the Linux kernel.
The discoveries highlight how increasingly capable AI systems are being turned toward both finding and demonstrating software weaknesses at a scale and speed that would be difficult for human researchers alone, according to BleepingComputer.
The report does not detail how or when the flaws will be patched or disclosed to the affected projects, but the scale of the findings underscores growing concern in the security community about AI tools capable of both detecting and weaponizing vulnerabilities.
