The Buffalo Bills have released safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson immediately after he completed an NFL-mandated one-game suspension, according to Yahoo Sports and Sporting News. The ban stemmed from an incident in which Gardner-Johnson spat at Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, and it kept him sidelined for Buffalo's win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
According to Yahoo Sports, Gardner-Johnson appeared in six games for the Bills this season, recording 26 tackles and one interception before his release. Sporting News reported the spitting episode effectively marked the end of his time with the team.
The move continues a pattern of instability for Gardner-Johnson, who has bounced between NFL franchises in recent seasons, as Yahoo Sports noted in its coverage of his latest release.
