Russia's military said it hit energy facilities in and around Ukraine's capital on Friday, according to France 24, in the latest strike targeting the country's power infrastructure as winter approaches. The attack adds to a pattern of assaults on Ukraine's energy grid that have repeatedly knocked out heat and electricity for residents.
At the same time, an aid convoy began moving overnight toward Oleshky, a town in southern Ukraine held by Russian forces, carrying food, medical supplies and other essential goods, France 24 reported. The town has been described as besieged, underscoring the dire conditions facing residents there.
The twin developments highlight the continuing toll of the war on Ukrainian civilians, both in the capital facing renewed strikes on critical infrastructure and in contested southern areas where humanitarian access remains difficult.
