The sequel to "Ramayana: Rise of a Legend" has officially been delayed to 2028, moving back from its previously expected 2027 release, according to E! News. The first installment is set to introduce audiences to Rama, the prince of Ayodhya played by Ranbir Kapoor, alongside Sai Pallavi as his wife Sita.
The follow-up film was meant to continue the story as the characters make their way toward Lanka, but that portion of the saga will now take longer to reach screens than fans initially anticipated, E! News reports.
No further details on the reasoning behind the shifted timeline were included in the report, but the delay means viewers will have an extended wait between chapters of the mythological epic.
