Philip Rivers broke his silence on reports tying him to NC State's open head coaching job, speaking after his high school team, St. Michael Catholic, suffered a loss, according to Yahoo Sports. The former NFL quarterback, who played college football for the Wolfpack, said there was nothing imminent regarding the position.
His comments came just days after a separate report indicated Rivers had "emerged as the focus" of NC State's coaching search, following earlier reporting that he was considered a strong candidate to be in the mix for the vacancy, per Yahoo Sports.
Rivers currently coaches at the high school level, and his name has generated significant buzz among fans of his alma mater as NC State works to fill its vacant head coaching role. No final decision has been announced.
