Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has spent the past year fielding intense criticism, much of it online, after she spoke out against transgender women competing in women's sports, according to Yahoo Sports.
Cunningham did not stay quiet about the backlash, describing some of her critics as 'psychotic' and saying she has encountered a startling amount of hatred directed at her over her stance, Yahoo Sports reported.
The comments add another chapter to an ongoing public debate within women's sports over transgender inclusion, a topic that has repeatedly put WNBA players in the spotlight on and off the court.
