Former Republic of Ireland and Wrexham captain James McClean has signaled a potential move into boxing after his recent exit from hometown club Derry City, according to Yahoo Sports.
McClean named reality TV personality Joey Essex, who has fought on Misfits boxing cards, as someone he would like to face, saying he has something to prove as he weighs a switch from football to the ring.
No bout has been confirmed, and details on timing or a potential promotion remain unclear, but the comments mark McClean's first public step toward a boxing career following the end of his long playing spell in Ireland.
