A banner flown by an airplane above Doak S. Campbell Stadium on Saturday called for Florida State to fire head coach Mike Norvell, drawing a sharp rebuke from opposing coach Dabo Swinney, according to Yahoo Sports.
Swinney, whose Clemson team went on to beat Florida State that day, said he was disgusted by the banner and called it embarrassing, per Yahoo Sports. His comments came even though the stunt targeted a rival program rather than his own.
The banner adds another layer of pressure on Norvell amid what has been a turbulent stretch for the Florida State program, with fans and outside parties publicly voicing frustration over the team's performance.
