CNN, MSNBC and Politico have escalated their legal fight with the White House, filing an expanded complaint that accuses the Trump administration of continuing to ignore a judge's directive to restore their journalists' access to key coverage spots, according to PBS NewsHour.
The outlets say they are still being shut out of covering President Donald Trump directly in the Oval Office and aboard Air Force One, despite an earlier court order meant to reverse that exclusion. In their new filing, the news organizations are asking the court to convert that order into a permanent ruling, arguing the administration has not complied with it.
The case centers on press access to the president in two of the most closely watched venues for White House coverage. PBS NewsHour reports the outlets contend the continued restrictions amount to defiance of the judiciary's instructions.
