The Lakers have optioned Bronny James to their G League affiliate, the Coachella Valley Lakers, as the team's new offensive style leaves little room for the second-year guard.

The Los Angeles Lakers have assigned guard Bronny James to the Coachella Valley Lakers, their G League affiliate, according to Yahoo Sports. The move comes as the team continues to adjust its rotation around the style of play built up front for Luka Doncic.
Yahoo Sports notes that Bronny follows a similar path recently taken by teammate Dalton Knecht, who was also squeezed out of regular minutes as the Lakers retool their roster priorities. Playing time at the guard spots has grown scarce for younger players as the club leans into its new offensive identity.
The assignment gives Bronny a chance to get consistent on court reps in the G League while the Lakers figure out where he fits once NBA minutes open back up.
